Accounts Assistant at African Trade Insurance Agency

Established by African States with the support from the World Bank and the African Development Bank, the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) is a multilateral insurer headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

ATI’s mandate is to promote and develop trade and investments for and within African countries by offering insurance services.

Exciting entry position have arisen in the following role:

Accounts Assistant

Under the CFO through the General Accountant, the job entails:

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.    Managing daily posting and ensuring that all entries are properly documented

2.    Payments & cash management:

  • Managing petty cash transactions
  • Managing payments to suppliers, making sure payments are made in time and coordinating with suppliers
  • Assisting with handling and issuing cheques payments
  • Allocating payments and receipts

3.    Transaction processing:

  • Receiving and processing all invoices and requests for payment
  • Generating  new suppliers and vendors

4.    Performing reconciliations:

  • Preparing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconciling credit card expense returns and credit card monthly statements
  • Performing reconciliations with supplier’s statements

5.    Ensuring proper recording of all the new asset acquisitions or/ and disposals

6.    Basic book keeping functions as may be requested

Qualifications

  • BA in accounting/ finance
  • Holds or working towards a CPA/ ACCA/ CIMA certificate or equivalent

Years of Experience

 
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a busy organization

Competencies & attributes

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Attention to details
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, preferably SAGE
  • Rigorous
  • Good  written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational skills
