IT Assistant at African Trade Insurance Agency

Established by African States with the support from the World Bank and the African Development Bank, the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) is a multilateral insurer headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

ATI’s mandate is to promote and develop trade and investments for and within African countries by offering insurance services.

Exciting entry position have arisen in the following role:

IT Assistant

Reporting to the IT Specialist, the functions and duties of the IT Assistant shall be as follows:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and promptly handle all calls from users in both headquarters and field offices related to telephone, network,  printing and PC issues and ensure the issues are logged into a Helpdesk Ticket Management System.
  • Repair and recover hardware and software failures.
  • Maintains, upgrades, and improves existing systems including Windows,  Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Skype, Windows Clients platforms/infrastructure.
  • Administer the Agency’s Polycom Video/Audio Conferencing Infrastructure.
  • Administer Printer Server, File Server and DHCP Server Infrastructure.
  • Administer Printer, Fax, Projector, Photocopy and Scanning Infrastructure.
  • Administer WAN links for remote field offices.
  • Monitor Internet performance and escalate issues to the respective ISPs whenever necessary.
  • Provide Technical Support at External ATI events.
  • Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
  • Train Users whenever necessary.
  • Administer the Agency’s Pabx, ensure all lines on all Telkom Providers are working and follow up lines issues with the Telkom Providers whenever necessary.
  • Assist in following up Contractors and Providers.
  • Assist the Procurement Unit in maintaining the ICT inventory and stock of ICT items.
  • Facilitating Data backup and Restore whenever necessary.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required.

Qualifications required

 
  • Bachelors degree in ICT/Computer Science
  • CCNA or MCSE/MCITP Certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Packages.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Years of Experience: At least 2-3  years’ experience in working in a busy helpdesk environment

Competencies and Attributes

  • Ability to perform work of confidential nature.
  • Ability to provide basic IT support services.
  • Ability to operate a wide variety of computer hardware and software and to quickly learn the use of new technologies and applications.
  • Ability to provide input to the elaboration and implementation of new systems.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in New System Implementation would be an added advantage
