Service Kenya/Djibouti Programis seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals for

the following position to be based in Kakuma Refugee Camp

: Senior Community Services and Livelihoods Officer

The Senior Community Services and Livelihood Officer willbe based in Kakuma RefugeeCamp and shall be responsible for coordinating and overseeing operational plans in the Community services and Livelihood Sector.He/she will work hand in hand with thesector staff, Technical Advisor

Sustainable Livelihoods & Cash Based Initiativesto improve the operations and management of theCommunity services and Livelihood Sector. The

incumbent will report directly to the Project Coordinator, while working closely ona daily basis in collaboration withother sectors of LWF.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

•Team leader of community Services and Livelihood staff, mentor, motivate them to work for collective responsibility and accountability.

•Monitoring immediate staff on a continuous basis, and carrying out performance appraisals at least once a year.

•Fostering effective relationships with relevant stakeholder’s especiallyCounty Government, UNHCR, RAS and community leaders.

•Ensuring co-ordination, information sharing and referrals with other sectors and agencies/operational partners

•Ensuring cordial relations with Donors, political leaders, community opinion leaders and governments officials

•Actively promoting the rights of persons of concern in all interactions with

stakeholders including the government.

•Embracing the rights-based approach when interacting with people of concern and when implementing project activities.

•Interacting with rights holders and establishing networks with stakeholders to address real needs and promote best practices.

•Ensuring that project proposals, monitoring and evaluation activities,progress reports and other documentation relating to community services and livelihood are finalized and submitted to the Project Coordinator by agreed time frame and with good quality.

•Ensuring that all cross-cutting issues (i.e. gender, environment, conflict mitigation, contingency planning and accountability) and LWF approaches(i.e. rights-based approach, integrated approach, and community empowerment)are mainstreamed into all project activities.

•Ability to cope with emerging trends and developments in Community Services and Livelihood sector, and using this knowledge to improve on existing gaps.

Minimum Academic and Professional Qualification:

•A degree in Sociology,Social Work and Community Development is the preferred qualification. A social science degree in a related discipline would also be considered.

•Proven academic or on-job training and understanding of the Project Cycle model in managing humanitarian assistance.

•At least 4years of progressive experience in managing livelihood programs and cash based interventions. Experience gained within an international humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage.

•Strong analytical, administration, co-ordination, negotiation and documentation skills in the management of livelihood sector and social services

•Experience in project cycle management, proposal, report writing, interpretation and excellent computer skills.

•High level of motivation, integrity, commitment and professional responsibility.

•Ability to tolerate cultural, diversity in the work placeand manage large teams of staff.

•Excellent communication, organization and presentation skills.

•Demonstrate high skills on problem solving

•Possession of aCertificate of Good Conduct.
