CURE has an exceptional opportunity for an Anesthesiologist at its hospital in Kenya. This position represents a unique opportunity for a challenging and fulfilling career in improving the standard of health of a community. The Anesthesiologist will be responsible for providing anesthesia services to assigned patients in the hospital setting including those who are unable to pay, those whose care is subsidized and those who are private pay. The Anesthesiologist will also be an active participant in the education of residents and nurses, quality control initiatives, management of the operating room, and development of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities Include
- Review preoperative patient charts for pertinent lab work, history and physical, vital sign chart, fluid status and medication sheet.
- Examine patient, obtain medical history, and use diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical, and other medical procedures.
- Seek opportunities to teach staff both clinically and didactically with regard to advanced life support, anesthesia, & pain management.
- Manage anesthesia services, coordinating them with other medical activities and formulating plans and procedures.
- Oversee the maintenance of the anesthesia machine, oxygen supply, suction, and all equipment necessary to providing anesthesia.
- Medical degree from a qualified, recognized medical institution; Board certification (or equivalent) required. Current licensure required. Current BLS and PALS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in private or hospital practice. Experience in the developing world strongly preferred.
