CHS is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of Program Director (001/41/2016)
Overall Job Function
Reporting to the CEO, this role oversees the implementation of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activities supported by CHS under the Siaya project. Specifically, she/he is responsible for planning, coordinating and providing strong leadership to a team of implementers.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee effective program implementation for Siaya as per organisation and donor guidelines
- Ensure that all program activities are sensitive to and responsive to changes in national and donor requirements
- Ensure that the project is well balanced, documented and implemented in an effective manner
- Oversee program monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Oversee timely submission of project reports as agreed with the donor and other stakeholders.
- Provide support to fundraising and business development team during proposal development and contract negotiations
- Oversee the establishment and management of relationships with partners and stakeholders in the region
- Ensure appropriate representation of CHS in alliances and networks within the region
- Coordinate donor/stakeholder and corporate leadership team visits in the region
- Coordinate CHS collaboration with networks, government agencies, and other organisations in order to share information, experiences and influence them and/or build capacity
- Ensure achievement of targets both organisation and donor through the team
- Act as the team lead of the technical team ensuring compliance and synchrony of the work in the region
- Oversee the operations team in the region
- Supervise the direct reports and ensure work delivery in the region
- Oversee the fleet in the region
- Oversee the operations team in the region
- Oversee in liaison with the FAD department acquisition of offices in the region
Person specification
- Master’s in Public Health/ Masters in Health system management/ Adult physician/ pediatrician
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBchB)
- Registered by the Doctors and Pharmacies board
- Eight years and above experience in public health at least five in HIV/AIDS programs
- Four years’ experience leading teams at a senior management level
- Demonstrated in depth understanding of programming issues in public health at organisational, county and national level
- Have practical experience in donor reporting, designing and setting up, coordinating, monitoring and evaluation and impact assessment systems
- Proven ability to prioritise in a demanding environment, multiple accountabilities and to tight deadlines
- Experience dealing with multiple stakeholders, government agencies, counties and donor community
- Experience working with PEPFAR, CDC or USAID desirable
- Have a working knowledge of the region
